SUMMARY:An Afternoon of Poetry and Music
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an afternoon of poetry and music. Local poet\, April Tierney\, will be reading selections from her latest poetry book ~ Memory Keeper. In between poems\, local musician Amy Glenney will be performing on guitar.\n\n \n\nAbout April Tierney ~ April is the author of three full-length collections of poetry\, as well as the co-author of a chapbook and photographic anthology. Her work has been featured in The Wayfarer Magazine\, Orion\, and Real Ground Journal\, among other publications. She lives in the hills above Lyons with her husband\, young daughter\, mischievous dog\, and wide web of kin. To learn more visit www.apriltierney.com.\n\n \n\nAbout Memory Keeper ~ What is the embodied shape of memory? How is it cared for and set down into the hearts of future generations? Where lives the land of forgetting? Throughout these poems\, April Tierney weaves together personal\, collective\, ancestral\, and land-based memory into a single\, glistening cloth. She courts the cultural necessity of tending to what might otherwise be lost\, by writing her way into the past as a prayer for what is yet to come.\n\n \n\nAbout Amy Glenney ~ Amy has been writing\, singing\, and playing music throughout the Front Range of Colorado for over 15 years. Her musical stories and snapshots pay tribute to the varied landscapes of the heart\, and her rich melodies call the listener home to the East Tennessee Mountains where she was raised and the long and soulful musical tradition of her ancestors.
