SUMMARY:Member Feedback on ADUs
DESCRIPTION:Trustee Martchink has asked for Chamber feedback to the Estes Park Town Board of Trustees regarding Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs). As you have heard before\, the Chamber doesn't form an opinion outside of that of its members\, so we wanted to host a conversation to form a letter to the Town Board. You can also sound in through our Advocacy page here.\n\n\n\nAt their regular meeting on December 14th\, 2021 at 7 pm\, the Estes Park Town Board of Trustees will be considering an amendment to the Estes Park Development Code regarding ADUs. Here's the link to the Town Board Meeting packet. From the link\, you can access the packet by clicking on "Town Board" then clicking on "Current Packet."\n\n\n\nThe Chamber will fashion a written response on behalf of the business community at the end of the day Monday\, December 13. I hope you will find the time to review the packet materials and provide comments\, either on behalf of your organization or otherwise\, regarding ADUs. \n\n\n\nMany believe that ADUs would provide much needed long-term housing to help address the ongoing workforce housing shortage. ADUs could simultaneously make homeownership possible for those currently unable to buy in our very competitive market as an ADU would offer supplemental income to offset rising housing costs. Opponents of the amendment argue ADUs could have a detrimental impact on already established neighborhoods.\n\n\n\n The Town Board always stands to benefit from public engagement and public input. Please consider being part of this important conversation.
