SUMMARY:'Un'Book Club: Slow Productivity\, Cal Newport
DESCRIPTION:The Estes Economic Development & Workforce Council will host our Q3 session of 'Un'Book Club on September 1st from 8:30-10am. \n\n\n\nWhat if the secret to getting more done isn't working faster but slowing down? In Slow Productivity\, Cal Newport challenges the hustle culture mindset and offers a refreshing alternative: focusing on meaningful work\, sustainable habits\, and long-term success instead of constant busyness. Drawing inspiration from some of history's most influential thinkers and creators\, Newport shares practical strategies for reducing overwhelm while accomplishing work that truly matters. Join us as we explore how slowing down can help us work smarter\, live better\, and redefine what it means to be productive. \n\n \n\nKevin Benes of Running Wild Events\, whose experience in entrepreneurship\, business consulting\, and community leadership will be facilitating this quarter's 'Un'Book Club meeting. Kevin used this book as part of the curriculum for this year's BASE 2.0 course\, which he facilitated. BASE 2.0 (Business Accelerator Services of Estes) is a hands-on\, in-person\, 10-week program designed to help Estes Valley entrepreneurs create stronger\, more sustainable businesses. This program is put on by the Estes Chamber of Commerce's Economic Development and Workforce Council (EDWC) every-other year. The next cohort is scheduled for 2028.\n\n\n\nThe 'Un' Book Club meets quarterly and is designed to bring business owners together to explore pivotal topics impacting the Estes Valley business community. The goal is to learn from one another's experiences\, openly share challenges and successes\, and support each other in building stronger\, more resilient businesses.\n\n\n\nYou can purchase Slow Productivity at Macdonald Book Store or check out from the Estes Valley Library!
