Description
Halloween is on!! The downtown community will be hosting the traditional Estes Park Halloween, chaired this year by Carissa Streib with Simply Christmas. On Sunday, October 31, downtown Estes Park will once again be shut down to allow for trick ‘r’ treating up and down Elkhorn Avenue.
“Downtown businesses will be giving out candy,” said Carissa Streib of Simply Christmas in downtown Estes Park, who volunteered to coordinate the event on behalf of the Chamber. “If people want to donate candy there will be drop off boxes at Safeway and Dollar General.” Thanks to the Boy Scouts for decorating those collection baskets at both stores and thanks to Dion at Safeway and Steve at Dollar General for letting us set up collections for this fun community event. You can also drop candy at the Town of Estes Park Visitor Center. Key Club will pick up the candy after school on Friday and distribute the candy downtown to participating business on Friday, October 29. Thanks to Jay Blackwood for coordinating this. Thanks to the police department, fire department, car club, emergency medical services,Good Sams and the trolley folks.
Bring your friends but keep in mind this is a local event. We are not advertising this to bring people up the hill. This is a gift to our town from our downtown merchants.

Halloween closure on Elkhorn Ave. allows safe passage of trick-or-treaters
To provide safe passage for trick-or-treaters during Estes Park’s annual community Halloween festivities, the Town of Estes Park will close Elkhorn Avenue from Spruce Drive to Riverside Drive from 5 p.m. until approximately 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021. Side street traffic will be detoured accordingly.
The lane closures are intended to increase safe areas for pedestrians, while at the same time improving the ability of adjacent businesses to participate in the Halloween festivities. The fencing and cones will guide pedestrians to designated crosswalks. Officers from the Estes Park Police Department will be stationed throughout downtown for added safety.
The Town of Estes Park encourages residents to bring their children downtown for a safe and fun Halloween celebration provided by the community’s local businesses, organizations and residents. Trick-or-treating families are encouraged to follow these safety tips:
Costumes should be highly visible with reflective materials.
To prevent tripping, costumes should not drag on the ground.
Props should not have sharp edges that could cause injury.
Carry a flashlight after dark.
Walk, don’t run.
Unless there is a designated street closure, walk on sidewalks and use designated crosswalks only.
COVID-19 Safety Precautions:
Individuals with COVID-19 symptoms, those who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 and are currently in quarantine or have tested positive for COVID-19 should not attend the festivities.
While not required outdoors, masks can help reduce the spread of COVID-19, especially for the unvaccinated.
Costume masks are not a substitute for masks that protect against COVID-19. If wearing a costume mask over a cloth mask causes difficulty breathing, consider a themed cloth mask as part of the costume instead.
