MINDFULNESS FOR LIFE -RECONNECT WITH YOUR STRENGTHS AND JOYS | SEPT 26 - NOV 7 | 7 WEEK SERIES | 10AM - 12PM | INSTRUCTOR: NANCY BEHNEY | $300

Clinical studies have shown that incorporating mindfulness into your daily life can decrease anxiety, stress and worry. This multi-week week course, which is based on the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction curriculum, supports our natural ability to connect with the present moment. Learn how cultivating the practice of mindfulness can lead to a more joyful and meaningful life.
The course includes instruction on the following mindfulness practices: body scan, sitting meditation, walking meditation, and mindful movement – including yoga and Qigong. Guided meditation recordings will be offered to support home practice. A half day silent retreat is also included.
The following topics will be covered in this course:
Awareness of our mental habits that can cause emotional reactivity and anxiety, mindful eating and our relationship with food, the role of perception, physiology of stress and reacting vs. responding with mindfulness, interpersonal communication skills, obstacles to feeling more joy in our lives, how being in nature can decrease symptoms of stress, developing warmth and compassion towards ourself and others, and the importance of self-care.
Included in this course is an orientation session which will be held on September 19 from 1-2pm, at no charge. Since this is a significant time and financial commitment it’s important to know what is involved and what is expected, so include this class in your plans. If unable to attend, please let the Community Center staff know and the teacher will contact you directly.
